Subject: Update WOW wk 7/23/06: 5th & 6th Grader at PCAC Sunday School

Dear parents,
Today's topic is centering around Joseph's reunion with his brothers;
(Gen. chapters 42,43,44,45)
Well, the reunion is NOT straightforward as you may think...
One of the lessons is ... forgiveness.
How do we impress our children with "forgiveness" into their mind and life?
Here we go...
To start it off, we've divided students into three groups: Each group gets to play a role, Blabby,
a column writer which mimicing "Dear Ebby" column, who provides answers and suggestions
the newspaper readers. Each letter portraits a "problem" from reader who was experiencing
or struggling "forgiveness" issue. One of the common answers from the student is "talk" it out. Impressive?!
Later, we toggle studying Gen. chapters with playing a game of mirroring the word "FORGIVE"
in opposite fashion;
To make the game fun, the word "FORGIVE" is made up differnt shape, pattern, and colors.
You should be proud of your children as they enjoy and take up the challenge.
For each chapter of 42,43,44,and 45, each group get to examine the questions,
1) what did Joseph do?
2) Why did he do it?
3) What were the results?
We focus on the concept of "forgiving" the people who have committed wrong-doing to you,
just like Joseph's example.
OK... here is the WOWs for next week:
Mon: Exodus 23:4-5
Tue: Prov. 24:17
Wed: Prov. 25: 21-22
Thurs.: Matthew 18:21-22
Friday: Romans 12:14
Sat.: Matthew 6:12
Check out the verse of the week:
Colossians 3:13.

Parents,
It's been a HOT summer in Texas...
So that I hope that every boy and girl is also HOT for Jesus as they go on with their faith journey.
Today, we continued out study on Joseph's life in the Old testament, as he was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. (Gen 39, 40, and 41)
However, we started out with a Bible Scavenger Hunt - where we bring out several key words,
1) branches, 2) coins, 3) sandals, 4) fish.
here are some of the bible questioins that lead to the answer;
** John 15:5 ?Jesus said, “I am the vine and you are the ________.
** Matthew 14:15 ?The boy shared the meal he had packed. Jesus used the five loaves and two ____ to feed the 5,000 people.
** Exodus 3:5 ?Moses saw a burning bush in the desert, but it was not consumed by the flames. God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!?amp;nbsp; And Moses said, “Here I am.?amp;nbsp; Then God said, “Do not draw near to this place. Take your _______ off your feet for the place where you stand is holy ground.?
For branches, the highlight is that Jesus is the true vine and we, as christain, are the branches.
Branches are to be connected to the source of life - vine.
And being a fishman is to bring people to Christ.
As we played out the scavenger hunt, each team is to send a member to retrieve the object (fish or coins) once they find the answer from the bible. That was a fun game indeed! (Hope that the keyword sticks to their mind)
Next, we focus on the verses of the Joseph account where he was jailed and miraculously saved and exalted to the righthand man of Egypt empire. GOD's hands are always within Joseph no matter how bad or worse the situation it may be in human's eyes. What's the point?
--> GOD uses each one of us to make a difference if you're willing to trust and obey.
A change of pace helps in the class - as always!
We did a cross-word puzzle where each student is find out the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
And the prize is .... fruit-flavoured lolly-pop!! (first three who finished - you can see the smiles!)

Then the key verse of the day is... Colossians 3:23.
(Want to check it out from yoru bible? )
"Whatever you do, ___ ___ it with all your _________, as working for the ________, not for _______."
Each student needs to memorize the verse before the class can be dismissed. :))
Here are the home-connection verses:
Monday: Gen 39:20 -- 23
Tuesday: Gen 40: 1 -- 23
Wed: Gen 41: 1 -- 7
Thursday: Gen 41: 8 -- 16
Friday: Gen 41: 17 -- 33
Sat. Gen 41: 34 -- 49
