Subject: Update WOW wk 12/9/2007: 5th & 6th Grader at PCAC Sunday School

Hi parents,
Abit of delay - here is the updates on what went on at PCAC sunday school;
Main Theme:
The theme is about Jesus's Role and He's Done Great things for us!!
StartUp Point
To start it out, we played a quick "Guess what Occupation This Is" interview by having 2 or 3 volunteers (students) to explain away what this "occupation" (written on an Index Card) is.
The point is to bring out Jesus's role as denoted in Psalm 72: 1-19.
Tune Game
Later, we had a "Name-The-Tune" contest on the hymns;
We had the following pieces:
1) Holy! Holy! Holy!, 2) Awesome God, 3) Amazing Grace,
4) It Is Well, 5) When I Survey / Old Rugged Cross, 6) Rock Of Ages,
Those hymns were carefully chosen from Accappella (singing without any instruments) - by choice and design from teacher to make the recognition abit of challenging. :))
(and To my surprise, the students DID experience some challenges!)
Result? Girls won! (3 vs. 2 points against Boys)
Then we went on to each hymn to expand on Jesus's role; for instance, Rock Of Ages, points out the fact that Jesus is our fortress, and protection. Amazing grace - how sweet that is - to bring us the salvation... You get the idea.
Quick.Check-Application
To help students self-reflecting on the message,
I showed them 14 to 15 slides (attached images/pictures) on the "Carrying your own Cross" skit or talk-n-show.
Basically, it intends to encourage students to follow Jesus's footsteps as a follower without compromising His calling.
An interesting question was asked from the floor:
Q: Cannot the guy (who is the main character - you'll see once you read the slide) borrow the "cross" from others?
Answer: Nope- salvation is for individual - you get to carry your own cross when it comes to your personal faith journey.
To Drive Home:
Let's play a quick drawing game: Author(or Creator), Mediator, and Painter (us - you and I).
Three groups were formed. Each group is to complete a drawing as followed:
The way to play is to have Painter draw what Mediator told them to sketch out based on input from Author.
What's the point?
==> He (Jesus) is our Mediator between the Father and us.
Closing in prayer as we thank our Lord for being a God of infinite variety and creation!!!
WOW verses:
Monday: 1 Corinthians 15: 56-57
Tuesday: Ephesians 1:18-21
Wed.: 2 Corinthians 12:9
Thursday: Romans 5:6-8
Friday: Acts 10: 37-38
Saturday: John 14: 6
Next week? It's be a new "KCIC"ing session!
KLUP!
-Sam
