兔年蒙福! (and Let it snow today :))
This is week 6 - today we focus on Jesus's Baptism in the account of 馬太福音 3:13-17.
The word, Baptism, is from Greek βαπτίζω baptizo: "immersing".

In addition, Baptism has been called a sacrament and an ordinance of Jesus Christ.
Let's read the verses: followed by a short clip that features kids' age (G4/G5) with some cartoon style rendering of the Bible reading with pictures depicted in the background.
We spent a few minutes to go into Why baptism is necessary and the meaning of "Sin" been washed away because of Jesus's salvation - his death on the Cross.

**A quick pop-quiz game**
Yes, it's a scrabble word game; Each boys and girls team gets a bag full of some scrabble word pieces; (see pictures below)
To refresh the memory, each team is to re-construct the word pieces into a verse we've talked about since week 1, beginning of the quarter.
It's not an easy task since the pieces are many. Howev
What do we have:
Team 1) The LORD is good, a Refuge.
Team 2) I Am the Way, and the Truth, and Life.
Both verses remind us about who Jesus is and what HE means to us in our faith walk with Him.
Next, a game to highlight what "Sin" is in plain English fashion.
=> Dart board game - where the word "Sin" can be viewed as "miss the target" in God's standard. No matter how we've put in much humanly effort, we are unable to "save" ourselves.
Each Boys and Girls team has 9 shots opportunities.
Oh boy... they indeed enjoy the game. :)
As you can see one of the dart, no one hit the bull-eye (the Red circle in the middle). As we counted the score at the end of the game, guess what?
To my surprise, Boys team came from behind and beat the Girls' team.
SO, our goal ...
that is, to drive home the point - Jesus's baptism showed us an example to trust in Him and via Baptism we are saying, we confess our Sin and trust in Him.
Memory Verse: John/約翰福音 1:1
"太初有道、道與 神同在、道就是 神。"
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
We gave each student a handout to work on and bring it home. Please check with your child.
OH yeh, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

KLUP!
-Sam
PS: In Feb. we may ask each kid to bring an Object to class - details are to be announced later.
