Here we go again - G4/G5 Sunday class at PCAC. ( http://matt1914.blogspot.com )
A quick reminder: *Mother's Day out at the Park on next Sunday, 5/9 *
More details available online at PCAC Website,
Mother's Day outdoor worship at the Park(中英文部聯合戶外崇拜)
Theme: Acts/使徒行傳 12:1 to 18, on the account of "An angel frees Peter from the Jail".
Consider this as an action movie: what would you expect? Lots of "Mission Impossible" actions!
This time, we went straight into the bible verses; OK, Acts 12: 1 to 18.
Some of the actions, as I quote,
"有光照耀.天使拍彼得的肋旁、拍醒了他、說、快快起來.那鐵鍊就從他手上脫落下來。" WOW? Is that easy?
To help students practicing in-depth bible study, we quickly touched upon the basic 5-Ws:
1) Who, 2) When, 3) Where, 4) hoW, 5) Why. So we had some Q-n-A on identifying who, where the story took place, what happened, etc.
Next, let's jump into a quick game:
Finding these words from the Matrix (actually, a giant paper with 15X15 word-matrix) :)
The words are mainly from the bible verses: such as,
Herod, Christians, Gate, Arrested, Rhoda, Prayer, Angel, Guards, Recognized, etc.
Circle the word you found and the team cross-out the most words win!
Since the event is centered around Peter - notice that Angel frees Peter but not James, we have to explain abit on the WHY - God uses Peter later on to expand the gospel into Gentile (from Latin gentilis, by the French "gentil", female: "gentille", meaning of or belonging to a clan or tribe) refers to non-Israelite tribes or nations.
So the church is built on the true Rock - JESUS Christ.
To further impression on the concept of ROCK, we introduce Jenga - wood Block game. (J for Jesus? :))
ROCK/Jenga Action:
It's about building a "thing" as tall as it can be and as strong as it can be at the same time.
So all students went on to brain-storm on their TALL-n-Strong building thing. Oh boy, team work is such a beautiful thing as you see boys and girls working together. Not to mention that they get to critique on each other... haha.
Once they are done with their building piece - guess what? Teacher bring a FAN to blow them down!!!
First piece failed the "FAN blowing" test/trial. Then let's build it the 2nd time. As tall as it can be and as strong as it can be.
Kids got smart - this time, much conservative - flat structure, and stronger foothold to re-enforce the basic wall. OK, 2nd test - FAN blow from "Low" speed to "Medium" and "Hi" speed. All buildings tumble down.
It's about spiritual foundation as we build our faith on the true ROCK - Jesus himself.
And as you probably guess it - kids cannot seem let go of Jenga game. LOL.
We let the class continue to play Jenga during/after lunch hour.
Final Winning Points:
Boys: 8 points
Girls: 9 points
Memory Verse: Psalm 91:11
"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
"因他要為你吩咐他的使者、在你行的一切道路上保護你。"
Hope to see you all at the Park next Sunday - it's Mother's Day Outdoor worship.
